Audubon Prairie
This 13 acre preserve is half virgin prairie and half reseeded. The prairie is home to over 80 species of plants, several mammals, and during certain times of the year neo-tropical birds. For a visit contact the Omaha office at 402-445-4138.
Camp Brewster Prairie- Bellevue
This reseeded prairie is part of Fontenelle Forest Preserve. The prairie was planted to create a preschool educational experience. It provides a great display of native forbs and grasses. Entrance fee. Please call 402-731-3140 to schedule a visit.
Allwine Prairie- 144th and State street NW Omaha
Owned and managed by UNO, this prairie is set up for research purposes. Observe changes in biodiversity under different management practices.
Lake Zorinsky- 156th and Industrial Road
Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge- Fort Calhoun & DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge- Blair
Both have restored prairie areas for habitat improvement. Have per car entrance fee, but provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
Lincoln Area
Pioneers Park-
Enjoy a visitors center and six miles of trail observing both virgin and reseeded prairie. Observe up close some of the large mammals that once were common across the Great Plains. 402-441-7895.
Otoe Creek Prairie (Kenneth Storm Prairie)- East of Yutan, Nebraska.

Nine Mile Prairie- Managed by University of Nebraska- Lincoln, this virgin prairie has over 350 species of plants and over 80 species of birds. Take HWY 34 to NW 48th St to West Fletcher Ave through the main gate.
Spring Creek Prairie- Owned by the Audubon Society, this high diversity unbroken prairie has been managed through grazing and burning. From Lincoln, take HWY 77 south to West Denton Road. Head west to SW 98th street. Go south about three miles to entrance sign.
Beatrice Area
Homestead National Monument of America- Hwy 4 West of Beatrice 4.5 miles.
Take a self guided tour through 100 acres of restored prairie. Enjoy an 18 minute video on history of homesteading on Great Plains. Trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Visitors Center open 8:30-5:00 daily. Closed Thanksgiving, December 25, and January 1. From Beatrice take Highway 4 West 4.5 miles to park entrance.
