Day 3
Review: An enjoyable and effective way to review what students have learned might be in a game form.
1. Using the crossword puzzle and other information, make up a list of questions.
2. Divide the class into even teams and number off each team Ask them to remember their number. Decide on a name for each team.
3. In the front of the room, place two chairs that face the students. Appoint a score-keeper (he or she will still participate when their turn comes up)
4. Call up number the ones. Tell them you will ask a question. The one who knows the answer (has it ready to say) should stand up. When the teacher points to him/her he may answer. If the answer is incorrect, the other contestant may answer. If neither is correct the teacher goes to the teams seated and calls on someone whose hand is raised.
A correct answer from the first contestant = 3 points
A correct answer from the second contestant = 2 points
A correct answer from the group = 1 point
Have fun!
Note: A wonderful beginning or close to this unit would be a visit to the Platte River Valley to actually see the cranes. Parents might be willing to assist in making this possible. Viewing of the cranes is especially good between Grand Island and Kearney.
