Nebraska Wildlife Federation Presents

Wildlife Week Nebraska 2008: Pollinators!

April 20-26, 2008

The Nebraska Wildlife Federation is once again sponsoring Wildlife Week Nebraska. Our theme in 2008 is Pollinators! We seek to educate Nebraskans about the importance of bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators in our life, and the threats they face. We want all Nebraskans to better understand what they can do to help pollinators survive and thrive in our state.

Wildlife Week Nebraska is affiliated with National Wildlife Week, sponsored each year by the National Wildlife Federation. We will celebrate Wildlife Week Nebraska along with National Wildlife Week April 20-26, 2008.

Wildlife Week Nebraska Poster Contest

Nebraska Wildlife Federation invites Nebraska 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to enter our 2008 Wildlife Week Poster Contest. The theme for the 2008 grade school poster contest is:

Create Habitat for Butterflies, Bees, Birds and Other Pollinators!

The deadline for entries is April 14, 2008.  Poster contest winners will be honored at the Nebraska Wildlife Federation’s No Child Left Inside to be held May 3, 2008, at Pioneers Park Nature Center in west Lincoln. We recommend that teachers use one or more of the pollinator curriculum modules on this web site (click here), or the Federation's 2006 Wildlife Week curriculum Wings on the Move, to teach about pollinators before asking students to create their posters.
