What we do

Conservation

Nebraska Wildlife Federation helps Nebraskans get involved in wildlife conservation projects in their backyards and in their communities.

  • Recognize your yard, balcony container garden, schoolyard, work landscape, or roadside greenspace as a Certified Wildlife Habitat and help replenish resources for pollinators and other wildlife in Nebraska.
  • Learn about wildlife and our natural world, meet people who share your passion for the outdoors, and give back to the Federation and your community through the Nebraska Master Naturalist Program.
  • Join Nebraska Wildlife Federation in honoring individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to Nebraska’s wildlife and wild places through annual wildlife awards.

Public Policy

Nebraska Wildlife Federation works to bring good science to public policy decisions that impact our natural resources, and to help policy-makers understand the impact of their decisions on Nebraska’s wildlife and wild places.

Learn more about our work to:

  • Protect Nebraska rivers and wetlands and to restore our state’s aquatic habitat.
  • Support strong Farm Bill conservation programs and policies and programs that promote sustainable farming and ranching, and that better protect native prairies and wetlands.
  • Advocate for sound wildlife management policy, funding for parks and wildlife areas and the acquisition of additional public lands, and programs that improve water quality and management.

Wildlife Education

Nebraska Wildlife Federation's Wildlife Education programs promote hands-on nature education. We seek to get children outdoors and help educators teach an understanding of, and appreciation for, wildlife and our natural world.
